The first yoga class I ever attended was in March 2014. I was immediately hooked.
In May 2014, I went to a yoga retreat in Blue Ridge, North Carolina. I made a new yogi friend that shared with me she was on a 30 day challenge to attend a yoga class every day. I loved that idea and started the challenge of my own. I made it to 87 days in a row before I had to go out of town for a work trip.
Over the years I continued to vigilantly attend yoga classes. As part of my job at Agnes Scott College, I oversee the Resident Assistant training and professional development. During RA training one year, my director asked me if I would teach a yoga class as a nice self-care break during the rigorous week of training. I was nervous and excited. I taught an hour yoga class to roughly 30 students and 5 staff members.
I started to receive invitations to teach yoga for several groups on campus. RAs would host yoga programs for the residents on their floor and ask me to lead the classes, the office of student engagement asked me to teach yoga as part of various programming initiatives, I would teach yoga at the student leadership retreat in the fall, and every March I would teach yoga outside as part of the campus-wide Peak Week curriculum.
In 2017 I decided it was time to get my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate.
I have taught several yoga classes at Agnes Scott College over the past ~6 years, never for money. Always for my love of yoga.
In June of 2019 I traveled with my family to London, Paris and Ibiza. The day we flew home I immediately went to a yoga class and started a new challenge for myself. Between June 22, 2019 and January 16, 2020, I attended at least one yoga class a day for the entire 209 days. Many days I would attend two classes or add in a pilates class here and there in addition to my yoga class for that day. January 17th I was sick with the flu and the streak ended. I am sincerely proud of my 209 days! It was a great challenge for myself but I don’t believe I will ever try to beat that personal record again 🙂
I have taken hundreds of yoga classes over the years. Ashtanga, vinyasa flow, yin yoga, beach yoga, hot yoga, acro yoga, Bikram, Barkan, aerial yoga, paddle board yoga… etc… here are some pictures!

I have been so lucky to have such a supportive person during my yoga journey. I can’t count the number of classes or events he has surprised me with. He has always pushed me to further my yoga practice. Thank you <3
